For
how long are we Ethiopians going to be oppressed and killed by the same
governments that are supposed to protect us? For how long are we going
to continue to die on the road as we try to escape from the injustice,
misery, pain, death, lack of education and health care as we try to run
towards other countries for a better and safer life? We must work
together to bring the exodus of our young people to an end!
Ethiopians have to be the ones to find solutions to Ethiopia’s problems.
To do so will require that we assume responsibility for breaking down
prejudices, apathy, passivity, divisions and dependency. As we do we
will be able to achieve far more through cooperation than alone. Strong
involvement in our local communities; whether in the Diaspora or within
Ethiopia,creates the foundation for representing national interests.
You have a human responsibility to reach out to other Ethiopian people. You have a responsibility to make our beautiful country of Ethiopia, Africa and the world a much better world than it is now and we must do our share!
If there is one thing I would want you to learn from this message it is
this--you are not only the child of your family—you are a child of the
world and a child of humanity! To the extent that we do this, there is
hope! Will you do your part to create a more humane NEW Ethiopia,
African and world? That is the world of which I want to be a part. How
about you?
May God help us to better love, value and care for
our Ethiopian brothers and sisters from every ethnic group throughout
our beloved land. Together, may God help us build a bridge to a NEW
ETHIOPIA where freedom, peace, justice, equality and respect is shared
and enjoyed by all!!!
