Ethiopia: Government dictates radio stations which music they should play or face suspension

As the protest all over the country continues Ethiopian government is turning its face on suspending radio station claiming they are motivating people by playing music that initiates nationalism, the reporter disclosed.
“This is the main reason that the government could not control the protest,” said Ethiopian Broadcast Authority (EBA) on its report to the legislative body last week.
Officials in EBA also mentioned particular singers the stations are playing and warned others not to play these kinds of music that aggravate the unrest.
Abby radio station and Sheger FM are some of the stations that got a warning from the legislative and EBA for the accusation.
According to Reporter, the authority has called all the stations operating locally and gave the a direction which kinds of music to play and not to play. If not they will be suspended.
