Ethiopia Sets Up Command Post To Oversee Implementation Of Emergency Rule

ADDIS ABABA, Oct 10 (BERNAMA-NNN-ENA) -- The Ethiopian authorities have set up a command post to oversee the implementation of the nationwide state of emergency declared Sunday.

This is to check the violence which has rocked parts of the country, says Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.

The command post to be headed by the Prime Minister was established following the declaration of the six-month state of emergency rule in the country aimed at restoring law and order as well as ensuring the safety of the people.

In his message to the people of Ethiopia earlier Sunday, Hailemariam said the developments which the country had witnessed had put the integrity of the nation at risk, as the enemies of the country are not willing to see a developed Ethiopia.

"Our enemies, particularly the ones known to be our enemies, are working day and night to see a disintegrated Ethiopia. It is expected that they will continue to do so," Hailemariam said.

In this regard, the government will work to ensure peace and stability as well as safety of the people so as to sustain the ongoing development of the country.
