Obama says Ethiopia should not jail journalists, restrict opponents

U.S. President Barack Obama said on Tues that Ethiopia "cannot unleash the complete potential of its people" if it jails journalists and restricts legitimate opposition groups.

Ethiopia's government has acknowledged it had additional work to try and do to develop its democracy however also says any journalists it's detained committed crimes.

In a speech at the African Union, Obama conjointly said Central African Republic leaders required to conceive to comprehensive elections and a peaceful transition of power. Elections in Oct can mark a return to democratic rule after the Seleka rebels toppled President Francois Bozize in March 2013, sparking a conflict.
