Two more Embassies, the
UK and US joined the Norwegian Embassy in extending stricter travel warnings
and bans to particular zones in Oromia Regional State, in the past week.
The
first travel advisory issued by the Norwegian Embassy was issued in December.
The reminder to take necessary precautions have now been replaced by stricter
announcements from their UK and US counterparts.
Last
updated on February 20, 2016, the advisory from the UK Embassy cautions against
all but essential travel to areas in Oromia Region including Ziway Wereda and
Adami Tulu in the East Shewa Zone and Shashemene, Arsi Negele, Seraro, Kofele,
Dodola, and Kokosa Weredas in West Arsi and Langano area.
Similarly,
the US Embassy has fully prohibited its citizens and employees from travel on
the Shashemene-Modjo corridor and Ambo.
All
Embassy advice underlines the worsening security condition in relation to the
protests in Oromia.
