EPRDF sketches its 2015 ‘Election Winning Strategies’

EPRDF sketches its 2015 ‘Election Winning Strategies’

ESAT News
Sources within the ruling Ethiopian People Revolutionary Democratic Front’s (EPRDF) have sent the Front’s “2015 Election Execution Plan” to ESAT. The Strategy is among others aimed at giving a fertiliser relief for farmers and enables urban residents to get places to build houses once they make a 20 thousand prepayment.
For those that cannot pay the 20,000 prepayment, there is a plan to prepare loans from Banks as the election approaches. It has already finished preparing lands all across the country. In addition to the above two plans, the strategies include disparaging oppositions, actions that go to the extent of discriminating those that oppose EPRDF, training/piloting on how voters can vote using the 1 to 5 structure and giving hopes that the existing problems seen in the justice and development sectors would be resolved in the future.
The Strategy also states that the training courses the Front gave last year regarding the history, development strategies and the election experiences of EPRDF have been successful.
The document states that it is difficult to trust Amhara and Oromia regions. It mentions that if EPRDF was to lose power, the leadership and their families could be sent to prison. It also stresses that it needs to execute the plan with the motto of “EPRDF or death!”
The directive has reportedly been sent to new and senior leaderships of the Front. The pre election execution training will be prepared for Kebeles (districts) once it has been presented to Woreda and has been fully evaluated.
Some of the messages that are planned to be given to the lower level leadership include “EPRDF’s victory will be avowed in election 2015”, “We will continue the legacies of the great leader”, “We will work to sustainably achieve our development, democratic and good governance goals in rural areas”, “We will continue our missions for faster development, good governance, accountability and the creation of an aware and responsible Kebele level leadership”, and “the future is bright with EPRDF.”
According to EPRDF insiders, the Front is infiltrating its members within the opposition parties and then enable them to win the election while representing opposition parties.
