BLUE PARTY MEMBERS TORTURED IN ADDIS ABABA PRISON

Political prisoners of the Blue Party; Emebet Girma (19), Eyerus Tesfaw, Yonas Kedir, Yeshiwas Assefa, Abera Hailemariam, and Abebe Mekete are severely harassed by the TPLF Security Guards at the Lazarist prison in Addis Ababa.

The level of violence against these prisoners was so brutal that they complained about the ill-treatment. The detained Blue Party members are under hunger strike because of the injustice and the refusal of the police not to take their case to the Supreme Court. The young man and 3rd year engineering student at the Addis Ababa University, Yonas Kedir, has been severely beaten up today. He is suffering from wounds and swelling in his body after guards and intelligence officials beat him with batons. Yonas Kedir is unable to move due to the injuries.

Blue Party is the first political party in modern time to re-claim Ethiopianism which represents the dreams of the majority of Ethiopians. Blue Party’s movement embodies the pride of strong and a united Ethiopia. The mystique of the term Ethiopianism derived from its occurrence in the ancient time (where Ethiopia is also referred to as Kush, or Cush) and was enhanced when the ancient independent Kingdom of Ethiopia defeated the Italians at Adwa in 1896.

Several reports confirm that the TPLF government is nervous of the new Blue Party Pan-Ethiopianist Movement. The intelligence officials are particularly violent towards those individuals accused of having links with the young generation of the popular Blue Party.
