Ethiopia: Government cancels a peaceful protest called by oppositions in the capital city

A Forum for Democratic Dialogue in Ethiopia (Medrek) and Blue party denied to hold a public rally in the capital city.

Both parties called a peaceful demonstration for the coming Saturday, December 26,2015 against the government security officials action in the past two weeks in Oromia state.

However, according to the government affiliated radio station Fana, the city administration did not allow them to run the demonstration. Tee administration said the areas the parties chose for the rally is a busy streets and there are many government offices that might be disrupted..

መንግስት ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎች የጠሩትን የሰላማዊ ሰልፍ አገደ። መድረክና ሰማያዊ ፓርቲ ሰሞኑን በኦሮሚያ ክልል በታጣቂዎች የተወሰደውን እርምጃ ለማውገዝ እንዲሁም በማስተርፕላኑ ላይ ያላቸውን ቅርቴ ለማቅርብ የፊታችን ቅዳሜ ህዝቡን ለሰላማዊ ሰልፍ የጠሩ ቢሆንም የከተማው አስተዳደር "መንገዱ በመኪኖች የተጨናነቀ ነው" በሚል ምላሽ ሰልፉን አግዷል።
