Per Sandberg (FRP) think it is cowardly of Justice Minister Grete Faremo (AP) not to put their own law department to deal with the war of words about the closed reception centers.
AP follows
In late May launched FRP more comprehensive immigration policy measures.Among them a desire closed reception centers for asylum seekers.
Unrealistic and inhumane, said Justice Minister Grete Faremo (AP) in an interview with Dagbladet :
- We have acceded to various international conventions and taken on mutual obligations. Then FRP with suggestions as smooth break with all this, she said further.
In an article in yesterday's VG reviews Sandberg debate that followed as "belly flop" and "close to pathetic."
- First, she sends the Secretary of State to attack us and claims that we are violating international conventions, she hangs out propaganda on the Justice Ministry's own website. At no time is it presented evidence, says FRP deputy Per Sandberg told VG.
Background: 6 out of 10 Norwegians will be closed reception centers
- User government system
War of words went seriously crazy when he visited late June closed reception centers in Greece. Sandberg pointed out that Norway supports similar initiatives financially.
Faremo secretary, Paul Lønseth, claiming that Progress proposal violated article five of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
The same claims were posted on the ministry's own website under the title:Stop misinformation about the closed reception!
- The hazard here is that they use officials and government system to attack us. It is Faremo who personally endorse everything that is published on the website, says Sandberg.
- The use of the Ministry's own website to engage in aggressive campaigning was straw for me. It is abuse, says Sandberg.
Now FRP requires clearance by the Ministry itself.
- I think the allegations are way out there, and I have also been confirmed by lawyers. The ECHR said Article 5 (1) b clearly that there are exceptions. But my lawyers are volunteers and have limited time - so it's not their Faremo.
- Instead of continuing to throw out uncovered allegations us all the time, then you Faremo simply go to their legal department and ask them to clarify this once and for all. It is embarrassing and cowardly that it has not been done long ago.
- Does black
State Secretary Pål Lønseth told VG he is surprised by the claim:
- We replied in detail on this in a 17 page document that we sent to the Justice Committee in May. The answer was based on civil service law review, although it is written as a political document of the Minister. I think Sandberg has received what he is calling for.
- A theoretical Justice Sandberg could write a similar document with the opposite conclusion?
- He could, but academically law will not change. We
is confident that it is contrary to the advice he gets from officials.
- Should not this then clarified with a clean, dry jus-assessment?
- A statement from the Law Department will still only be consultative. If he had one, he would say that it is a mere advisory opinion. We are not a court, we say only that the Progress Party regime will result in illegal lock of individuals.
Background: You mean there will be more asylum seekers with FRP policy
Lønseth rejects also determine that there is something wrong with the publishing feature articles on the Ministry's website.
- He says there is abuse, and it surprises me that he takes the tone. As Sandberg know, the Ministry is guided by the currently seated political leadership. Ministry of pages is an information channel both for actual information and the management wants out, he said.
- There is no news medium with equal rights.
- It makes it complicated with changes of government?
- Yes, but officials are professionals. Their view of the ECHR 5, for example, be the same, regardless of the political leadership. Sandberg would get the same inputs as minister. He might have a different angle on it, but that's how it works.
