Detained civilians Tortured to Death in Jail Ogaden

Reports reaching our service desk from the capital city of 

Jigjiga Ogaden confirm that at least two prisoners have 

been tortured to death in the infamous Jail Ogaden 

detention center in Jigjiga, Ogaden.

This morning, the prison authorities brought out the corpses 

of two men with severe torture marks on their bodies. Our 

reported in Jigjiga was able to obtain the name of the one of 

the victims. His name is said to be Abdi Sharif Mohamed 

Khalif, also known us Abdi Dhere.


There are other reports circulating in Jigjiga city that there 

are more victims which are hidden from their relatives and it 

is believed they are buried in secret graves, a practice which 

is common these days in Ogaden.

 
The International Red Cross is still denied access to the 

Ogaden since 2007.
